Image Optimizer
Reduce image file sizes for faster web performance without losing visual quality.
Resize, change format (JPEG, PNG, WebP), and adjust quality for JPEG/WebP.
What Is an Image Optimizer?
An image optimizer reduces the file size of a single image while keeping it looking sharp. You upload one image, adjust the compression settings, compare the before and after, and download the result.
This is different from a bulk compressor. The image optimizer is for when you want precise control over a single image, like a hero banner, a product photo, or a profile picture, where quality really matters and you want to fine-tune the output before using it.
Why Image Optimization Matters
A 4 MB hero image on your homepage can add 3 to 4 seconds to your page load time on a mobile connection. Google uses page speed as a ranking factor. Slow pages also have higher bounce rates, which hurts conversions.
Optimizing your images is one of the fastest ways to improve both your SEO and your user experience at the same time.
According to HTTP Archive data, images account for about 50 percent of the average webpage's total byte size. Cutting that in half with proper optimization has a measurable impact on Core Web Vitals scores, especially Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).
Key Features
- Single image focus - full attention on one file with detailed before/after comparison
- Quality slider - drag to find the exact compression level where quality and file size balance out for your specific image
- Real-time file size preview - see the exact KB or MB savings before you download

- No upload required - optimization runs locally in your browser, your image stays on your device
- Instant download - one click to save the optimized file
How to Optimize an Image
- Upload your image by clicking the drop zone or dragging the file onto it
- Use the quality slider to adjust compression (start at 80% and go lower if you need a smaller file)
- Compare the original and optimized versions side by side
- When you are happy with the result, click Download
The whole process takes about 30 seconds for most images.
What Quality Setting Should You Use?
This depends on where the image is going.
- Hero images and banners: 75 to 85 percent. These are large and visible, so quality matters, but you still want them under 200 KB.
- Product photos: 80 to 85 percent. Customers zoom in on these, so do not go too aggressive.
- Blog post images: 70 to 80 percent. These are usually smaller and viewed at lower resolution.
- Thumbnails and icons: 60 to 70 percent. Small images can handle more compression without visible degradation.
Image Optimizer vs. Bulk Image Compressor
If you have one important image and want to dial in the exact quality, use the Image Optimizer.
If you have 20 or 200 images and just need them all smaller fast, use the Bulk Image Compressor instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between lossy and lossless compression? Lossy compression removes some image data to achieve smaller file sizes. The quality slider controls how much data is removed. Lossless compression reduces file size without removing any data, but the savings are smaller. For web use, lossy compression at 75 to 85 percent is the standard approach.
Will the optimized image look different? At 75 percent quality and above, the difference is not visible on a screen. You would only notice it if you printed the image at large scale or zoomed in past 100 percent in a photo editor.
What formats are supported? JPG, PNG, and WebP. These are the three formats used for the vast majority of web images.
Does this tool upload my image? No. Your image is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
Can I optimize a PNG without losing transparency? Yes. PNG files with transparent backgrounds are supported and the transparency is preserved after optimization.
